Ireland & the Holocaust

Overview

There is considerable material on Ireland and the Holocaust available. The Holocaust Educational Trust of Ireland seeks to make this material accessible to the public. This area grows and develops as information comes to light. This topic can be viewed in a number of different ways. During the 1930s and 40s, many Irish people and people with Irish connections worked to help victims of Nazi persecution. The Holocaust has been commemorated in Ireland by the Irish Jewish community and, in recent years, through the national Holocaust Memorial Day. Many artists have taken the Holocaust as the theme for their work. There is a selected bibliography of texts that discuss this topic.
